MALCOLM MCMICHAEL is a New Jersey / New York–based dancer, teacher, and tarot reader offering classes in his embodied dance lineage—Horton, Graham, and Contemporary Dance. He earned a BFA in Dance with high honors from Montclair State University, where he is also pursuing a Dance MFA (expected 2026).
As a seasoned performer, Malcolm has danced the works of Martha Graham (as a member of Graham 2), Christal Brown, Bill T. Jones, Earl Mosley, José Limón, and Stephen Shynes at venues such as The Joyce Theater, Jacob’s Pillow and The Kennedy Center. He is also a creative collaborator, having worked on projects with Imani Carter and Dancewave Youth Company II, where he currently serves on their Artistic Advisory Council.
Malcolm’s technique classes promote clarity, musicality, and artistry while fostering a lifelong love for dance. His teaching credits include The Joffrey Ballet School, Concepts Dance Academy, Dancewave Through College and Beyond, Teens@Graham, Ballet & Beyond NYC, and Kent Place School. He has fortified his teaching through workshops at Ailey Extension, teacher trainings in New Jersey and New York City, and a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification from YogaRenew.
Malcolm is currently developing his graduate performance thesis “Embodied Dance Lineage” (working title) set to premiere at Montclair State University in March 2026.
